I received this book as an ARC read for an honest review。First, you need to read the first book “What Lies Beyond the Veil” before starting this one。 I can’t give a detailed review like I wanted because I realized it would spoil it for y’all。 I will say the author did it again。 The chemistry, bad and good, was off the charts between Caldris and Estrella。 The plot builds even more in this book。 I feel like I am right there with them。 I highly recommend this series。

What Hunts Inside the Shadows is book #2 in the Of Flesh & Bone series, by Harper L。 Woods。This book picks up right where the cliff left us in book 1, What Lies Beyond the Veil。 There was so much more story building to be had here, and I was hooked from the first page。 We see some significant growth with Estrella as she is coming into her own。 And Caelum, Caelum, Caelum。。。just wow。 His love and devotion to his Estrella is second to none。 "I will fight this war with you until the day I die。" "You What Hunts Inside the Shadows is book #2 in the Of Flesh & Bone series, by Harper L。 Woods。This book picks up right where the cliff left us in book 1, What Lies Beyond the Veil。 There was so much more story building to be had here, and I was hooked from the first page。 We see some significant growth with Estrella as she is coming into her own。 And Caelum, Caelum, Caelum。。。just wow。 His love and devotion to his Estrella is second to none。 "I will fight this war with you until the day I die。" "You are my mate。 I will always protect you, min asteren。 No matter what the cost。" The story moves at a perfect pace, and we get quite a bit more steam and spice in this book。 There are also some interesting side characters with their own stories and questions waiting to be revealed。 We do end on another cliff, and I can't wait to see what comes next in the third installment, What Lurks Between the Fates。 。。。more

Thank you to the author for sending me an ARC!Ok so first and foremost, the tension and dialog of this book are *chefs kiss* and probably my favorite part of this book。 I loved how we got more insight into the fae and im very interested to see were the plot is going! The only thing I felt was that the anger and betrayal felt at the end of the first book felt like it ended abruptly。 There was a lot of build up but I didn't feel like there was a pivotal moment where FMC's feeling properly changed。 Thank you to the author for sending me an ARC!Ok so first and foremost, the tension and dialog of this book are *chefs kiss* and probably my favorite part of this book。 I loved how we got more insight into the fae and im very interested to see were the plot is going! I already want to start by saying, i am eagerly waiting for book 3, a cliffhanger from book 1。 This book delves deeper into the mates connection and we slowly see the lies and manipulation of caldris。Also Estrella discovering herself and her powers。 💖💖High fantasy with a layered world building! This series hits every (my) fantasy reader checklist。。

This was such a great read, again the author knocked it out of the park。 The dual POV just emphasized the depth of the characters & I loved being able to learn more from both views。I kind of wished Estrella would’ve come around sooner and would be more open because I’m kind of with Caldris here lol Otherwise it was a great read and I can’t wait for more!

Holy shiiiit。 There was so much going on in this book, I was on my toes the entire time。 Umm talk about mind boggling。 Estrella really is something in this book (obviously I mean it in a good way)。 She has to come to the facts of her being mated to the god of death and what all of that entails。 The tension and love between her and Caelum was perfect。 This book was packed with so much, you learn a lot about their history and the mystery behind Estrella。 As soon as you think you know what’s going, Holy shiiiit。 There was so much going on in this book, I was on my toes the entire time。 Umm talk about mind boggling。 Estrella really is something in this book (obviously I mean it in a good way)。 She has to come to the facts of her being mated to the god of death and what all of that entails。 The tension and love between her and Caelum was perfect。 This book was packed with so much, you learn a lot about their history and the mystery behind Estrella。 As soon as you think you know what’s going, you get thrown into a whole another loop。 Many twist and turns, I absolutely CANNOT wait for this next book。 Seriously, loved it。 。。。more

But as she slowly starts to accept her future and the power that is inside of her, she really matures both as a woman and as a powerful future queen。 The raw emotions at the beginning of the book set a darker tone for the remaining story but that only adds to the tension and suspense as our two MCs learn about each other on a deeper level。 The spice, dirty talking from Caelum, and the push and pull of two people who know the other’s buttons and aren’t afraid to push them made for a book that was gripping and so, so satisfying。 "The only time I want you in chains is when it's to my bed, with you writhing and willing。"A rollercoaster of a book, Harper L。 Woods writes a beautiful story of heartbreak, magic, love, and a woman coming into her own。 I was obsessed from the first page, and I can’t wait for the next book! 4。1 ⭐I need to say that I still hate the whole "my little one" thing。 But the rest of this book was good! And let me tell you, when I say good, I also mean STEAMY。 Because oh my god 🥵。 This book does have a decent amount of second book syndrome。 Everything but the last 50 pages is travelling and relationship/character building。 But, it is written well, and it does not feel grossly slow or boring at any point! I loved seeing Caldris and Estrella's development together after the ending to book one (yikes! 😅)。 And there was a lot more learning about the world and the magic in it during this book。 BUT BE WARNED THERE IS A MASSIVE CLIFFHANGER。 ITS A NIGHTMARE AND I NEED BOOK THREE NOW。 (Please and thank you 🙏)*SPOILERS BELOW SPOILERS BELOW*Book Two Quick Recap: We learn that Estrella is not fully human。 She has some sort of dark magic inside her that's not from the bond between her and Caldris。 And it develops so much during this book - she's making things come alive, shooting snakes everywhere, it's crazy! She feels strings to things in the world and can twist then or create or use them。 I'm also a big fan of the witches Imelda and Fallon (new character alert)。 Fallon and Estrella were both stolen out of the fae world and kept hidden for many centuries。 One of them is Mab's (the evil Queen) daughter。 But we won't know who! The girls swear a bond to protect each other。 Mab also has a serpent wrapped around Cadris' (and her others children's) heart, which is how she controls him。 We meet Octavian, another child of Mab。 When he discovers that Caldris and Estrella are mates, Estrella magics up a pile of bones that kills his ass 💪。 He will NOT be reporting this back to Mab。 Estrella and Caldris FINALLY complete the mating bond 💕。 The group enters into the Fae world, crossing where the veil used to be。 Turns out Fallon is Mab's daughter。 And Estrella is taken as Mab's prisoner while Caldris is punished for keeping his mate a secret from her。 AND THATS THE CLIFFHANGER THAT BOOK TWO ENDS ON。 I'm not sure I can wait until March 2023 😭😭。 。。。more

But I'm not here for the plot bestea; I'm here for the angst。 Regardless, I enjoyed the mix of different lore here that the author incorporated with their own idea; it was quite interesting for me。Aside from that, the world building is excellent, as is the magic, which I am eager to learn more about, particularly the situation with Estrella。 The romance here is pretty, but the connection I felt towards Caleum and Estrella in What Lies Beyond the Veil was much stronger than here, and the whole I DON'T WANT/ HATE YOU/ LOVE YOU or running away did irritate me, but I love the angst I felt there, and I'm definitely living for that。 Also, what's with the death trope and 'til death do us apart?' PLEASE GIVE IT TO ME。To be honest, I thought I would have liked this more if there had been more plot to it than Estrella and Caleum's issue and smut, but it is what it is, and despite that, I did enjoy it。What was going on with Mab and Fallon was also quite intriguing。 There are a few side characters who I find interesting, so hopefully in the next installment (WHICH I CANNOT WAIT FOR, ESPECIALLY THAT ENDING), it will be more angsty and smutty😂 。Trigger Warnings: R*pe, gore, abuse 。。。more

"Making me the villain of her story when all I wanted was to be her everything” What Hunts Inside the Shadows is book 2 in the Of Flesh and Bone series。 This is book 2 in a 6 book series and I will be discussing some of the fallout from events in book 1 so this is a spoiler-free review for this book, but do not continue if you do not want to be spoiled for events in book 1。 I received an early copy from the author。 Decision to review and content of the review is my own。 Story The story star "Making me the villain of her story when all I wanted was to be her everything” What Hunts Inside the Shadows is book 2 in the Of Flesh and Bone series。 This is book 2 in a 6 book series and I will be discussing some of the fallout from events in book 1 so this is a spoiler-free review for this book, but do not continue if you do not want to be spoiled for events in book 1。 I received an early copy from the author。 Decision to review and content of the review is my own。 Story The story starts right where we ended in book 1 - Caelum has just dropped several bombs on Estrella and she is reeling from the betrayal and emotionally raw。 She is not quick to forgive but she also does not drag it out unnecessarily or go into denial over her feelings。 Estrella's feelings are complicated and she is honest about that (at least with herself) while she puzzles out what she should do。 Her decision is made even more complicated as the story evolves and she learns more about the Fae and Caelum and sees it for herself firsthand。The story delves more into the world and particularly the Fae, and also starts weaving some of the plot threads from the first book (like what Bran knew) into a more complex story。 Most of the story happens while they travel to complete Caelum task so the story moves at a slower pace that I enjoyed because I felt fully immersed in the story。 The twists in this series have me theorizing where things are going to go in the next book and I can't wait to see if I'm right or not。 Characters Estrella and Caelum have a dynamic that is equal parts emotionally passionate and strategic - they both know exactly how to push the others buttons to get the reaction they want and they don't hesitate to do it。 It creates a lot of great moments where they push the tension between them to the brink and have moments of emotional catharsis。 They both feel so strongly for each other and those moments when they let it out are incredibly satisfying。I enjoyed the development of their relationship immensely。 They really learned to hear each other out and became a great team。 The trust between them made my heart happy and I will forever love how Caelum adores Estrellas strength and encourages her to own her power。 For my fellow spice lovers - if you liked the spice if book 1, you'll love what you get here。 There's more of it and it's even hotter now that the truth is out in the open because it adds a lot of emotion and passion into their intimacy。 "We are two halves of one soul。 The heart that beats inside your chest is mine and mine alone”We get introduced to the Wild Hunt and I am fascinated by them! There's also some more of certain side characters that added a lot to the story and I'm looking forward to seeing how they are going to play into the overall story in the upcoming books。Find Me On: Instagram / TikTok / Facebook 。。。more

Oh my gosh this book was addictive。 What Lies Beyond the Veil was a top book for me this year but man this book just blew that one right out of the water。 The only reason it's not a 5 star is because of the fricking cliffhanger and all the unanswered questions。 This book also seemed to focus more on the romance than the actual plot points (which I'm fine with) I need books 3-6 NOWWW。 Spice level 🌶🌶🌶🌶Favorite quotes:"I was not made for war。 I was made for peace and a cuddly blanket in a comfortab Oh my gosh this book was addictive。 What Lies Beyond the Veil was a top book for me this year but man this book just blew that one right out of the water。 The only reason it's not a 5 star is because of the fricking cliffhanger and all the unanswered questions。 This book also seemed to focus more on the romance than the actual plot points (which I'm fine with) I need books 3-6 NOWWW。 Spice level 🌶🌶🌶🌶Favorite quotes:"I was not made for war。 I was made for peace and a cuddly blanket in a comfortable chair in a library with a book in my hand。 And I was so tired of the fucking cold。""She'd be the death of me, but it was the greatest end I could ever imagine。”"Making me the villain of her story, when all wanted was to be her everything。”"There was so much warmth in his gaze despite that pain, | would never be able to question whether or not he loved me。 Never again。 This was the kind of love stories were made of, the kind that poets wrote sonnets about。 The kind little girls dreamed of finding when they lay in their beds at night and tried to imagine the man who would one day become their husband。"'''Claim your freedom, Estrella, because if you do not, I will never let you go。 Do you understand me? I will not stop until you have accepted me -until you're my mate in truth。 I will take from you, but I will give you more love than you could have ever imagined。 This is your moment to choose, min asteren。 You can have your freedom or you can have me, but you cannot have both,""''。 I am going to love you until the stars disappear from the night sky and the sun ceases to shine。 Until the world returns to the void from whence it was born and chaos reigns once again。" 。。。more

4。5 stars rounded up We pick up right where the first book ended, with Estrella’s big discovery。 I’m not going to spoil what happened but the first part of the book deals with the aftermath and Estrella finally coming to terms with her new existence。 I’ll admit I was ready for her to get onboard a lot earlier。 For a girl who has had to protect others since childhood, her denial of essentially a part of herself and her road to happiness was a tad annoying。 Plus she was mean to my man Caelum。 She 4。5 stars rounded up We pick up right where the first book ended, with Estrella’s big discovery。 I’m not going to spoil what happened but the first part of the book deals with the aftermath and Estrella finally coming to terms with her new existence。 I’ll admit I was ready for her to get onboard a lot earlier。 For a girl who has had to protect others since childhood, her denial of essentially a part of herself and her road to happiness was a tad annoying。 Plus she was mean to my man Caelum。 She was definitely owed an explanation and an epic grovel though, don’t get me wrong。 When Estrella embraced her badass powers though, my heart skipped with happiness。 What I loved was we get more back story on Caelum which fleshed out his character more。 Before that the only thing we had really seen from him was stars in his eyes for Estrella。 We get introduced to more side characters as well。 As for the plot I thought I had the ending figured out like I had the first book。 No, there were more twists and turns in this second instalment and it had me on the edge of my seat at times。 Of course there’s a massive cliffhanger but it’s book 2 of 6。 That’s to be expected。 If you love romantic fantasy you’ll love this。 I’ve seen some people compare this to ACOTAR which with the fae world set-up it’s understandable。 Be warned there is a lot more spice than ACOTAR, which I for one love。 Thank you to Harper L Woods/AF for an arc of this fabulous read。 。。。more

This was soo good! What a great follow up to Estrella's story。 It continues where Book 1 ended。 Estrella is dealing with the after math of what she discovered。 The character development was fantastic。 I loved how we learned more about Caelum and loved the new cast of side characters, which brought depth to the plot。 Estrella's growth in this story was so great to see。 Plus I enjoyed the progression of her relationship with Caelum。 It tested their trust and love for each other and the new knowled This was soo good! I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review。I was so excited when I received this book。 I loved the first book and after that ending I needed more of Caldris and Estrella。 This book picks up right from where it left off。 This book has a ton of information in it, so make sure you pay attention! At times it was confusing, because there are so many changes at once, but it was also jaw dropping。You learn so much in this book。 I definitely think this book is focused on Estrella and her growth。 I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review。I was so excited when I received this book。 I loved the first book and after that ending I needed more of Caldris and Estrella。 This book picks up right from where it left off。 This book has a ton of information in it, so make sure you pay attention! HARPER L。 WOODS you are amazing。 。。。more
